Crochet Cloud

Poor little Cloud, he is much maligned, but fairly harmless really. He gets blamed for everything – know the feeling? Spend a little time with him and he may just become your friend 🙂.

You will need

  • Scheepjes Catona (100% cotton, 50g/125m) 1 ball of Snow White (106)
  • Small amounts of Delphinium (113), Cyan (397) and Lavender (520)
  • Toy Stuffing
  • A 3.5mm (US E/4) hook

Measurements

Cloud measures approx 10x8cm

Abbreviations

Invdec (Insert hook in front loop only of next st) twice, (yrh and draw yarn through 2 loops) twice. [decrease by 1 stitch]

Notes

UK terms used throughout. For US terms substitute sc for dc.
Abbreviations list
Made using the armigurumi method in a spiral without closing off each round with a ss. You may find it helpful to place a marker in the first st, moving it up as you work. The Cloud is made from side to side mostly in rounds, but with some short rows for the shaping.

To Finish

Define the shaping of the Cloud by sewing a few tight back stitches with Snow White, in the positions marked on the images below.

Sew the Raindrops to the base of the Cloud using the yarn tail. You will need to stagger their positions on the base of the cloud as shown in the image below:

Split a strand of Delphinium in half and use it to embroider the eyes and a small ‘v’ shape for the mouth, using the image as a guide. If you want a hanging loop, secure Snow White in the top of the Cloud, checking that it hangs straight at the point you have chosen and adjust the position if necessary. Ch30, fasten off leaving a long tail and sew the end to the base of the ch to make a loop.
