Download the spreadsheet and garment design process sheet and follow the instructions on the video for entering a set of target measurements. Use sensible figures for the stitch and row tension and enter these into the boxes on the spreadsheet. Assume that you’re working in rows of plain treble (US double treble) crochet, so you could use between 1.4 and 2.0 for the stitch tension, and 0.8 and 1.5 for the row tension.
Things to think about
- Notice what happens when you change the stitch pattern multiple to 8 on the spreadsheet. How does this affect your ability to ensure an even amount of ease on each grade across the sizing range?
- What do you think you could do to make grading easier if you want to work with a larger stitch pattern multiple? I’m thinking about fundamental design changes here, rather than tweaking the figures.
