This course is suitable for those who have little or no tech-editing experience, and want to learn and practise the basic skills required. It’s essential that you are an intermediate to advanced level crocheter who has worked a variety of different pattern styles (toys, homewares, accessories etc) and has used patterns from a variety of sources. It would also be helpful if you are able to read crochet symbol charts and ideally sketch them yourself.
There are 4 units in the introductory level course. The first 3 are the same for the pattern writing course, and the last one focuses specifically on technical editing.
As a tech-editor you must be able to write good patterns, otherwise you will not be able to spot where other patterns can be improved, so pattern writing forms the foundation of the course.
We will be using a range of different pattern types, but will not be looking at garments, as they feature in the Intermediate Level course.
Each course unit includes resource materials, training videos and practical assignments.
The first unit is already on my learning management site at caramedus.talentlms.com. This unit is priced at £30 and payment is taken through an online payment system when you sign up for the course. The three remaining units will be available soon, and each one will cost £30.
If you’d like more information please contact me, or fill in this questionnaire. Don’t worry, it’s not a test, but it will help me to adapt the training to your needs. The questionnaire is part of a pre-course unit on the Learning Management Software I use. You can access it without registering using the link above, but in order to record and submit the results you will need to create an account when prompted at the end.
