This course is suitable for those who have little or no tech-editing experience, and want to learn and practise the basic skills required. It’s essential that you are an intermediate to advanced level crocheter who has worked a variety of different pattern styles (toys, homewares, accessories etc) and has used patterns from a variety of sources. It would also be helpful if you are able to read crochet symbol charts and ideally sketch them yourself.
The session resource material is the same 3 course units of the Pattern Writing Course, but the assignments and the 1-1 sessions will be focused on practising tech-editing skills.
As a tech-editor you must be able to write good patterns, otherwise you will not be able to spot where other patterns can be improved, so pattern writing forms the foundation of the course.
We will be using a range of different pattern types, but will not be looking at garments, as they feature in the Intermediate Level course.
Each course unit includes resource materials, an hour-long 1-1 Skype session to work on practical examples, and a marked assignment.
The cost of £30 per unit is invoiced after each 1-1 session, so for 3 units the total is £90.
If you’d like more information please contact me, or fill in this questionnaire. Don’t worry, it’s not a test, but it will help me to adapt the training to your needs. The questionnaire is part of a pre-course unit on the Learning Management Software I use. You can access it without registering using the link above, but in order to record and submit the results you will need to create an account when prompted at the end.
